We are pleased to announce that ETM-Bay Area's Teaching Artist at Peres Elementary, Christopher Winslow, sang on the Grammy Award Winning recording of Mahler 8 with the San Francisco Symphony and Chorus. The symphony was recorded live in concert over four November 2008 performances at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, and won awards for Best Classical Album, Best Choral Performance, and Best Engineered Classical Album.
"There is nothing quite like being a part of a performance of Mahler's 8th Symphony. The sounds that surround you can simply overwhelm your senses," related an excited Winslow. "What a memorable experience each performance brought, having the opportunity to sing with world class musicians to sold out houses for all the performances. I am so grateful to have had the chance to make music on such a grand scale."
We would like to congratulate Mr. Winslow, the members of the San Francisco Symphony and Chorus, Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas, and everyone else involved in producing this award-winning recording. Christopher brings considerable expertise and professionalism to his students at Peres Elementary sowing the seeds for future symphony lovers!
