Education Through Music-Bay Area (ETM-Bay Area) currently serves eight schools that instruct over 2,200 students weekly at its partner school, Peres Elementary School, and through consulting work with the Dominican Schools Music Project. Each of those schools, spread from Fremont to Ukiah held holiday music performances this past December to end 2008.
Principal Dennis Ruggiero praised the concert and music program at his school. "Our Christmas Program at St. Anthony Immaculate Conception School was a stellar indicator of the high quality of music instruction provided by The Dominican Schools Music Project. Not only did parents see and hear their children perform, it is clearly apparent to them that the students have internalized the meaning of the pieces and are performing with understanding, feeling, and enthusiasm. The program has provided the students and parents with a sense of pride in their ability and accomplishments. Student progress during the first five months of school is truly amazing."
The successes of the last few months propel ETM-Bay Area into 2009. Our partner schools have already welcomed back their students and begun music instruction. At ETM-Bay Area, we are excited for the New Year and look forward to witnessing the continued growth of the students and teachers in the schools we serve.
Planned for 2011-12:
Not many schools have a music class and it's very important.
