Coronado Students Receive Star Treatment

On Thursday, November 19, 2009, kindergarten and fourth grade students at Coronado Elementary got a first hand look at how music becomes a part of Hollywood films when LA- based singer/songwriter Lisbeth Scott visited ETM-Bay Area music classes.

Lisbeth is a talented musician and songwriter who has produced songs for several Hollywood films including Shrek and Narnia. She showed the students clips from these films from the earliest stages of production beginning with storyboards to the final product with complete musical accompaniment. Her presentation demonstrated the impacts sound and music have in transforming and enhancing the mood of a film.

Ms. Scott is currently working to promote the ETM mission, and on tour with a portion of her proceeds benefitting our affiliate organization, ETM-LA (Education Through Music-Los Angeles). Her tour promotes her latest album and "Hope is a Thing" - a project she started to provide "a place to come and see what people all over the world are hoping for."

Ms. Scott also performed songs with the students introducing them to the harmonium and an African thumb piano called the kalimba. At the end of class, before swarming Lisbeth for autographs, students thanked her for her visit. One 4th grader remarked that she was excited to go home and practice the keyboard. We would like to thank Ms. Scott for her time and inspiration and invite you to visit her website, www.hopeisathing.com .
